A Difficult Issue

Only Human, the third issue of Wishful Inkers, launched yesterday. I am absolutely cream crackered.

It hasn’t made much of a splash. But then I didn’t expect that it would, because we have no marketing budget so we’re just doing the best we can with social media posts and trying not to annoy everyone. (Insert not so subtle plug here!)

This was a very tough issue for me, mentally. The theme was the trickiest one we’ve had so far. All of us struggled with it. And knowing the deadline was looming and I still didn’t have anything to offer didn’t help in the least. But we got it done in the end, with a lot of help from our friends.

So I want to take this opportunity to thank the guest writers who pitched in for this issue.  From my NaNo home region, SA Elsewhere, AKA “Wanderimos” – AzIAm, Natasha B-Jackson, Alinda Kerstholt-Blank, and G.L. Gelson. And from the BXP Team – Bethany Swafford, and Craig Anderson. You are all such incredible people, and I am truly privileged to know you. I never cease to be amazed at how wonderful and genuine the writing community is.

If you want to get your hands on a copy of Only Human, you can find it (and our past issues) here.

If you want to hang out with awesome people like the ones I mentioned – get involved!

Do NaNo. Make friends. Social media can be toxic, but there are so many great writers on Twitter – the community is amazing. Remember to add me on your social media of choice (I’m on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram).

Listen to podcasts like The Bestseller Experiment, which you can find on whatever podcatcher you use. BXP, in particular, has the most wonderful community that has grown up around it.

And don’t be afraid to reach out. Even to “big” authors – they’re just people too. And you never know what’ll happen.
